Sarasota

A major development of 2.5 million square feet on the bayside area of Sarasota in Florida that will link downtown to the cultural district has been masterplanned by HKR architects. We were asked to look at the design of a 150 bed luxury hotel and retail block at the heart of the scheme. The main body of the hotel is a 40 storey tower held beneath a folding metal plane with a viewing garden at roof level, while the lower block contains retail and hotel condominiums expressed as a series of framed elements floating off the façade.
