Gething Pool House
Our brief was to replace a pavilion building and outdoor pool, set in an extensive garden of a house by the River Thames near Henley, and to provide both new pool enclosure and guest accommodation. The building is created by four interlocking – but never touching – stone walls that enclose two wings around a central courtyard. Both wings shelter beneath flat cross laminated timber roofs, with the higher pool hall opening out through large sliding glazed screens into a courtyard – the guest accommodation and playroom space turn away from the courtyard to address the garden, terminating in a south-facing living space and sun deck.
