Brudenell Avenue is in the Canford Cliffs area of Poole and lies just south of Parkstone Golf Course and Compton Acres. Our ambition is to create an architecturally outstanding pair of houses on this beautiful site in Poole Harbour. The driving force for both houses is providing views across the harbour, so the front part of each house is formed as a series of ‘trays’ – balconies – to enjoy views and offer the opportunity for outdoor living. This approach can be seen in one of the greatest houses of the twentieth century, with Frank Lloyd Wright’s ‘Fallingwater’, at Bear Run in Pennsylvania, completed in 1937. Here, part cantilevered horizontal bands provide terraces and living spaces and are held by strong, vertical, stone walls around a staircase. The project received planning consent in July 2015 under officer delegated powers.
