Double Win at the Housing Design Awards 2020

17 July 2020

Contemporary Architecture Residential Housing Design Awards Winners jpa

JPA have secured two prizes at this year's 2020 Housing Design Awards. The two sites in Surrey, Pantiles and Alfold Gardens, were both previously used as garden centres.

Alfold Gardens, in conjunction with Q Developments, achieved the Masterplan Award, a new category at this year's awards. Leigh Johnson, Head of Master Development at Homes England, said: “Congratulations to John Pardey Architects, Q Developments and Waverley Borough Council. Their winning design is all about creating that elusive English village feel. This masterplan meets all the criteria of the BFL12 design guidance and its response to the site’s local distinctiveness with clear pedestrian and cycle routes through the site. It’s a scheme that puts people and the homes at its heart of design and not the car, a true mix of tenure and types of homes to deliver a thriving and mixed community of future occupants." Pantiles Garden Centre, in conjunction with Spacehub Landscape Design and Goldcrest Land, achieved a Project Award. Runnymede Council's planning committee, who voted unanimously in favour of the development called it: “An exemplar for future green belt proposals.”

Thank you to the design team, our collaborators, clients and councils for all playing vital roles in these projects.
