Contemporary Architecture Residential Housing Design Awards Winners jpa

Following on from JPA's double win at the Housing Design Awards 2020, we continue to appreciate the work Design South East does for architecture through their review, training and facilitation services.

As part of their review process, Design South East were instrumental in reviewing, analysing and offering support to the JPA team during the design process for both Alfold Gardens, and Pantiles Garden Centre. As a result of this, both projects were considered exemplar additions to villages in the Surrey countryside by the Housing Design Awards judges.

DS:E had the following to say about Alfold Gardens, a project for Q Developments“We applaud the ambition for high-quality, contemporary architecture that takes its cue from the Surrey vernacular and consider that this development has many attributes that could make it an exemplary housing scheme... We are supportive of the structure and the layout of the streets and blocks and the way that the development picks up key walking and desire lines in an attempt to knit this development into the fabric of Alfold.”

Pantiles Garden Centre, a project for Goldcrest Land, occupying a brownfield site within greenbelt land, was originally allocated for 20 dwellings, however this was expanded to a consent for 60 dwellings. DS:E provided a service to both JPA & the LPA with the following advice: "allowing development on this Green Belt land could, with exceptional design, potentially enable a high-quality development on this site as an extension to the village of Lyne".
