Residential

Our approach to larger residential schemes begins by analysing the client’s requirements together with the site and its context – analysing constraints and opportunities that we combine with a clear understanding of aspect and orientation.

From this we establish a concept approach to plan the layout and establish a ‘set of rules’ for the architecture – a way of setting out parameters for massing, materiality and form that ensures coherence across a scheme. With this set of rules, the development of a design can proceed while a strong overall approach remains intact and this makes for a positive and constant evolution of a design.

As with all of our work, we enjoy exploiting the things that nature provides for free – views, the sun, shelter from the wind – and combine this with the use of clean forms and natural materials that will give buildings a timeless feel ensuring they will look as good in twenty-five years as they would today.

We work regularly with other professionals such as planning consultants, m+e, structural and highways engineers, quantity surveyors, sustainability and ecology experts as well as landscape architects and we enjoy the responsibility of driving the team forward to a successful planning application. We have good experience and enjoy presenting schemes directly to planning officers and other stakeholders.
